Consortium Formed with Major Real Estate, Construction, and Lifeline Firms in Japan to Support Commercialization
Digital Garage, Inc. (TSE first section: 4819; HQ: Tokyo; Representative Director, President Executive Officer and Group CEO: Kaoru Hayashi; DG) launched “Open Network Lab Resi-Tech,” (https://resitech.onlab.jp) a global accelerator program for real estate-related startups, and on Thursday, November 8, we start putting out a call for teams to participate in the accelerator program. We form a consortium with major real estate, construction, and lifeline companies in Japan to support their commercialization.
DG established “Open Network Lab,” Japan’s first accelerator program, in 2010, and has incubated roughly 100 teams and entrepreneurs chosen from more than 1,200 entries. In addition to the management expertise and mentoring skills cultivated in the past, DG is collaborating with DG Communications Co., Ltd. (HQ: Tokyo; President: Koichi Suzuki; DG Communications)–a DG Group company that develops marketing and solution services in the real estate and construction field–to start an accelerator program, the Open Network Lab Resi-tech, for real estate-related startups.
Looking toward the fifth-generation communication technology (5G) era, superior, major companies from Japan and abroad that are leaders in the real estate, construction, and lifeline industries will participate as partners to mentor startups and give lectures on business know-how with the goal of developing and supporting promising startups with products and services that enrich the lives of people. Through collaboration in DG’s global network connecting Japan, North America, Asia, and Europe, assistance will be provided to help Japanese startups access a global market and overseas startups to take part in this accelerator program and break into the Japanese market. Opportunities for field trials and collaboration will be offered with DG Lab, an open innovation R&D organization focusing on five fields: Blockchain, AI, VR/AR, Security, and BioHealth. DG will form a community with partner companies in this domain and build an ecosystem to support the creation of new businesses.
“The ‘Resi-Tech’ domain of housing/real estate and daily life services, integrated with the IoT, is undergoing simultaneous evolution across the world. It is my great pleasure to be able to promote open innovation throughout Japan’s leading real estate, construction and lifeline industries. In an era where more than 1 trillion IP addresses are allocated to a variety of objects and the number of IoTs connected via fifth-generation communications networks is increasing explosively, we are confident that technological advances will rapidly expand into digital home appliances, smart cities and biohealth based on the Resi-Tech domain. I am delighted to be able to support the Resi-Tech startups from around the world by the Japanese industry as a whole through this project. With Open Network Lab Resi-Tech as our first business in this area, we will continue to accelerate the IT innovation in Resi-Tech areas.” (Kaoru Hayashi, DG Representative Director, President Executive Officer and Group CEO)
